Dublin Water Bottle: A Reusable Skyline Bottle for a City Full of Free Refills
Dublin's tap water passes more than 99.8% of EPA quality tests, so the greenest drink in the city is already in the pipes. The Dublin Water Bottle is our reusable 0.5 L city bottle made from 99% sugarcane bioplastic, printed with the Dublin skyline, and built for exactly that: filling up from the tap instead of buying single-use plastic. Every bottle sold also funds one donated bottle and 100 litres of clean drinking water for schoolchildren in Africa.
Is Dublin tap water safe to drink?
Yes. Ireland's Environmental Protection Agency tests public drinking water supplies every year, and its Drinking Water Quality in Public Supplies 2024 report found compliance with microbiological and chemical standards above 99.8%. In plain terms: Dublin tap water is safe and strictly monitored, and a refill costs a fraction of a cent. Visitors who are used to buying bottled water abroad simply don't need to here.
Where to refill a water bottle in Dublin
Dublin has a growing network of free refill points, so a reusable bottle rarely stays empty for long:
| Where | What you'll find |
|---|---|
| Dublin Airport | 27 free drinking water stations across both terminals, so you can refill right after security |
| Parks & squares | Fountains in and around St Stephen's Green, Merrion Square and Phoenix Park |
| City refill stations | Dublin City Council stations such as Clarendon Row, St Anne's Park and Marlay Park |
| Cafés & shops | Businesses on the Refill Ireland Tap Map refill your bottle for free on request |
That's the idea behind every Join the Pipe city bottle: tap water is excellent in most of Europe, and a bottle you refill beats a bottle you throw away.
The Dublin Bottle itself
The Dublin Bottle 0.5 L carries the Dublin skyline and comes in a white or black bottle with your choice of ring colour. Like all our city bottles it is:
- Made from 99% sugarcane bioplastic ("I'm green"™ certified bio-based polyethylene) with a CO₂-negative lifecycle: the sugarcane absorbs more CO₂ while growing than production emits
- 100% BPA-free and compliant with EU food-contact regulation EC 10/2011
- Dishwasher safe up to 65 °C, and light in the bag at roughly 30 grams
- Available as a standard 2-piece or a luxury 4-piece version with an extra drink cap and coloured carrier ring
There are more than 80 city designs, including Berlin, Amsterdam and Tokyo. If you collect the cities you visit, Dublin belongs on the shelf. Browse all city bottles here.
A souvenir that isn't landfill
Most Dublin souvenirs end up in a drawer. A skyline bottle gets daily use, and it saves you the €3 airport water bottle every time you fly. Because of our Buy One Give One promise, every bottle sold also means one bottle donated to a schoolchild plus 100 litres of clean drinking water through our foundation's water projects in Kenya, Congo and beyond: tap stations at schools, funded by people choosing tap water at home.
Frequently asked
Can I drink Dublin tap water as a tourist? Yes. Public supplies exceeded 99.8% compliance with EU drinking water standards in the EPA's 2024 report.
Does the bottle keep drinks cold? It's a lightweight single-wall bottle for water on the go, not an insulated flask. That is what keeps it at about 30 grams and CO₂-negative.
Can we get Dublin bottles with our own logo? Yes. Companies and events order custom-printed city bottles from 100 pieces. Request a quote.
