How Novotel Paris-Est replaced disposable bottles with 3,000 custom water bottles

  • di Laurens Boschman

Novotel Paris-Est, part of the Accor hotel group, has ordered custom-branded reusable bottles from Join the Pipe four separate times since November 2023, totaling 3,000 bottles. That's not a one-off pilot: it's a hotel that keeps coming back for the same order.

Four orders, one recurring design

WeFact records show the pattern clearly. The first order (November 2023) was 1,000 unfilled Nairobi bottles, split evenly between white and black with matching cap rings. From February 2024 onward, every order became the same recurring format: 2-piece Nairobi bottles with a flat cap, split evenly white and black, printed in a single colour with the "Novotel Paris Est" logo. That order repeated at 800 bottles (February 2024), 600 bottles (June 2024), and again at 600 bottles as recently as June 2026. Four rounds, the same design each time, is what a repeat B2B relationship actually looks like on paper.

What's in the photo

The photo on this page shows rows of the white and black Nairobi bottles lined up on a black display plinth, each printed with the "NOVOTEL" wordmark, at what looks like a hospitality trade event. The Nairobi is Join the Pipe's flagship bottle: a diamond-textured 4-piece design with a loop-carry cap, available in 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 litre sizes. It's the same bottle across all four Novotel orders, just switching between a plain cap ring and a flat-cap finish depending on the run.

Why a hotel group reorders the same bottle

The original caption on this article quotes Novotel's own sustainability line: "We believe it's our role to shape a more sustainable future of travel." Join the Pipe also supplied water fountains alongside the bottles for guest refills, though WeFact only shows invoice lines for the bottles themselves, not a separate tap installation. For a hotel group, a reusable bottle in the room only cuts plastic if there's somewhere to refill it, which is exactly the pairing a hospitality refill-station rollout needs: a branded bottle plus a fixed point to top it up.

The bottle: 99% sugarcane, not oil-based plastic

Every Nairobi bottle Join the Pipe ships, including Novotel's, is made from 99% sugarcane-based bioplastic: chemically identical to conventional HDPE but CO2-negative across its lifecycle instead of oil-based. It's Braskem "I'm green™" certified, BPA-free, EU food-contact compliant (EC 10/2011) and dishwasher-safe to 65°C, which matters for a hotel bottle meant to survive a guest's whole stay and several more after that.

Every printed bottle Join the Pipe ships also funds one donated to a school water project in Africa, the foundation's Buy One Give One model. See the Nairobi bottle product page, the hotel and hospitality page, or a similar case at The Tides Inn, which reordered custom bottles at a much larger scale.
