What is sugarcane bioplastic?
Sugarcane bioplastic — also called green PE, sugarcane HDPE, or sugarcane-derived PE — is a bio-based polyethylene made from sugarcane ethanol. Each bottle is made from 99% sugarcane-derived material.
As the sugarcane crop grows, it sequesters atmospheric CO₂. That carbon is locked into the polymer chain of every bottle. When full lifecycle emissions are measured — farming, ethanol extraction, polymerisation, production, and transport — the bottle still absorbs more CO₂ than it releases. The material carries the Braskem "I'm green™" certification independently verifying this.
Green PE is chemically identical to conventional HDPE: same food-safety profile, same barrier properties, same recyclability in existing PE waste streams. Same durability. Radically different origin.
This makes sugarcane bottles the only mainstream bottle material with a net-negative lifecycle carbon footprint — and the strongest choice for organisations working on net-zero supply chains, Scope 3 emission reductions, or EU CSRD compliance.
Sugarcane-based material
Every bottle is made from 99% sugarcane-derived PE, verified by Braskem's "I'm green™" certification.
Net-negative lifecycle
LCA data: sugarcane PE absorbs more CO₂ during crop growth than is emitted across production and end-of-life.
Lower carbon vs fossil plastic
Compared to petroleum-based HDPE, sugarcane PE generates approximately 75% fewer kg CO₂e per kg produced.
UN Climate Action aligned
Supports SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption), and SDG 15 (Life on Land) in sustainability reports.
